WIBLINGEN LIBRARY
Ulm, Germany– 2024

The Wiblingen Library, completed in 1744, stands as a quintessential example of Rococo architecture in southern Germany. Delicate blue marble columns support the vibrant ceiling frescoes by renowned artist Franz Martin Kühn, captured in exquisite detail by Christian Voigt.

Gold-accented statues dot the chequered floor, creating a harmonised vision of learning and light over two storeys. The grandeur of the library reflects the prestige of the Benedictine tradition, which, by the 11th century, was famed for its scriptorium and illuminated manuscripts.

Devised to inspire visitors through its architecture as well as the library contents, Christian Voigt has expertly immortalised this hidden gem from the Rococo period.
