Stefano Zardini (1943 - †2019) came from a long line of photographers that goes back to the beginnings of the medium in the late 19th century. Given this promising heritage, it is not surprising that Zardini turned to photography at a young age, both as a means of making a living and as a means of self-expression. Zardini began working in the fashion industry and photographed for heavyweight publications such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Condé Nast Traveler. He then traveled around the world documenting wars, disasters, and significant events in more than 60 countries, including a series on human rights for the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. Zardini renounced conformity in his work and dedicated his entire career to experimentation to develop his own unique, ever-changing, indefinable style. The result? A freshness and vitality that runs through his images, regardless of the motifs.
