Daniel Remer, born in London and now residing in Israel, was captivated by photography from a young age but transitioned into filmmaking during his late teens. After graduating with honours from the London Film School, Remer carved out a successful career in the industry, contributing to high-profile films and television shows in both the UK and the USA. His passion for photography was rekindled during the Covid-19 pandemic, prompting a return to the medium that first inspired him. Drawing influence from early Metaphysical and Surrealist painters, Remer has developed a distinct visual language that delves into existential themes through carefully composed still-life images. He employs a photographic technique known as 'light painting,' which requires meticulous preparation to create the rich colours and intricate textures which populate his photographs. Every element in his compositions, from the fold of a fabric to the twist of a rope, is deliberately placed to infuse his work with deep symbolism. This fusion of technique and artistic vision has already begun to earn him awards and recognition, most recently at the London and European Photography Awards.
